A Classic Weekend

There is a first time for everything! I've frequented New Orleans for many occasions but never for the Bayou Classic. I know many people who have graduated from Southern University and Grambling State University and have heard about the great time they have in New Orleans.

Well, because this is a very busy weekend for the city and persons participating in the fun, I had to really consider how to pack, what to wear, and appropriateness of dress. All things said and done, it's a football game that brings all of these different people together. I didn't want to be that guy at the football game with hard sole shoes, chinos and a shawl collared sweater. Yes Gents...it is possible to overdress for a football game. Traditionally, I would wear a team who is playing shirt, but because there is a divide in my friends of which team to support- I chose neither.

There is a lot of walking when you visit the city of New Orleans. Historically, I had sacrificed comfort for looks. As I have aged and matured in the realm of fashion, I have gained the understanding that fashion can look good and also be functional.

My before the game look was a white Old Navy thermal, paired with grey H&M joggers, topped with my Philadelphia Pirates hat, and completed with my Jordan 11 Retro 72-10s. This look not only was comfortable but appropriate for the chilled New Orleans' morning and various paved streets. My game look was a hunter green Nike hoodie, paired with black Nike joggers, topped with my Philadelphia Pirates hat, and completed with my olive Nike Air Max 90 Essentials. Check the looks out below Gents, and remember that fashion can be comfortable and functional!
