A polite man is a man of desirability. Of course, you know that I give advice beyond fashion to ensure that every man is desirable to all audiences. I've had close ties to the medical community since birth, and with that comes many other social ties. Be it that I am a full-grown man *inserts hysterical laugh* I have established several relationships on my own. One of my closest friends is a practicing Orthodontist and is the wife of one the nation's most prominent Cardiologist. She is a member of The Links, Inc.- an organization of affluent and professional women of color who seek to uplift those in the lower places of society (my mother is one too).

Anyway, let's get to it! There are many fundraising events held by this organization throughout the year. This particular event was the annual Holiday Brunch with a "Winter Wonderland" theme. Being the son of man who was a black physician and a mother who is a black affluent woman, I am very familiar with those in attendance. You see, as a child these events were torture because my mother forced me and my siblings into suits and ties as we had to sit in a room full of bougie older people. Well, as a full-grown desirable man, I am now apart of that very same community due to my own professional ties and relationships. There are some things that can help you be successful in such an environment, a room filled with Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci, Prada, medical degrees, law degrees, terminal degrees, and an average $2.7 million net worth per couple.

1. Eat before arrival. Don't eat an entire full meal, and of course you shouldn't go anywhere hungry. This is just a precaution in the event that they food served is not to your liking.

2. Follow the dress code. This even was themed as a "Winter Wonderland." It was supposed to be an all winter white affair. I paired a cream knit top with tan slacks. I left the women to be in all winter white.

3.Whiten your teeth. These events require you to smile and be a welcoming spirit at all times. Aside from the constant picture taking, your smile is the most memorable part of your dress.

4. Don't drink dark liquids. Remember that you just whitened your teeth, and drinking dark liquids while at the event will only stain them. Also, there is the chance that you could accidently spill your drink on yourself or someone else. Stick with water, vodka liquors and white wines (although tinted).

5. Be Polite. Remember that not everyone is conscious of who you are or what you do. There are some questions that you will be asked in a way that you may not want to answer. For the sake of future alliances, simply say "Yes" "No" "Thank you" and pending age you can add "Ma'am/Sir" remember to smile!

6. Brush up on your Emily Post's Etiquette. These events have plated meals with table cloths and silverware/flatware. Remember, even when you think no one is looking or paying attention- someone always is. A desirable man knows how to properly eat anyway!

7. Moisturize your hands. These events call for constant handshaking. Please be sure to use a lasting hand moisturizer so that you don't offend anyone with your rough hands.

8. Use a light cologne or perfume. A good smelling man is a man of desirability. You must be very careful with the fragrance you choose as well as the amount you wear. If they can smell you before you come in close contact, then you are offensive!

Anyway, this has gotten much longer than I anticipated. I will leave something for the next time. Remember this is only advice, and you are to use it at your leisure. Before I go, I got the opportunity to meet Raye Montague- U.S. Naval Engineer. She is not only living black history but American history as well. She is credited with changing the way the U.S. Navy designed ships. I was opportune to take a picture with her. Thanks to the ladies of the Little Rock chapter of The Links Inc. for yet another amazing event!
